Currently the longest continuously incarcerated woman in the state of Kentucky....since before...

The late Father Norman Fischer
Dear Honorable Chairperson Lelia A Vanhoose: Peace be with you. My name is Fr. Norman Fischer & I am the pastor of St Peter Claver Church, in the Diocese of Lexington, KY. I am writing this letter to support the hopeful parole opportunity for Karen Brown #003554 who has been a part of our parish's prayer intentions for several years. It is my understanding that this is Mrs Brown's third appearance before the Parole Board. Karen Brow has fulfilled in her tie of incarceration all that is required of her and has been respectful and grown in character and self-awareness. She has shown that she wants to contribute to her betterment and her future with others. She has received her rehabilitation well with her Masters of Divinity, a degree in Braille and participated in the "Books Behind Bars Program for the Youth". We are simply asking that her time spent in jail be completed and given parole in order that she can make a difference in the community and prove her successful rehabilitation. If you should have any further need of information, please reach me at nfischer@cdlex.org. With Gratitude, Fr. Norman Fischer SPC Pastor

Crossroads Prison Ministries Dear Governor Andy Beshear, I am writing on behalf of Karen Brown. She has been a student in the Crossroads Prison Ministries mentorship program since October 14, 2020. Crossroads, established in 1984, provides a mentorship-based correspondence Bible study program that serves more than 20,000 people in prison across the United States annually. We are continually impressed with the quality of work our students achieve and the progress they show, both spiritually and academically. We keep records of each student's progress, and we are happy to provide you with the following description of Karen's efforts in her studies. Karen is currently studying in the advanced portion of our program. During her time in the program so far, she has successfully completed the courses Who Are You, Great Truths of the Bible, and God's Story of Redemption. She is currently studying Survey of the Bible and 10 Men You Should Know. To date, she has completed a total of 40 lessons in the program. Our records show that she works diligently and follows through on her commitments. We contacted her mentor, Rita, to ask for a statement of recommendation, which is attached (on back). Karen is a conscientious student and a joy to work with, and she has done a great job so far. We welcome any questions that you may have regarding her coursework with Crossroads Prison Ministries. Sincerely Chris E. Crossroads Prison Ministries

Karen's mentor, Rita has worked with her for over a year, reviewing her completed lessons and corresponding with her regularly. Rita was happy to prove the following statement of recommendation. I've been involved with Crossroads Bible Institute for over 10 years grading students' lessons & I've only had one other student as involved in these studies as Karen is. She is so knowledgeable about God's Word & that is no easy feat. It takes a lot of reading & studying to get to the place she is at. She is involved in bible studies & leads the Bible studies. She has sent me her notes on what she teaches & they are excellent. She is involved with leading worship which is no small task. She is so dedicated to whatever she puts her mind to. She is a wonderful student with a caring heart. She is so honest in the part she played in her crime which shows me great maturity in her walk with Christ & accountability for wrongdoing. I pray the best for her & I pray she gets a second chance at freedom.
